Mr. Tyler Hess
Tyler Hess is a musician, educator, and arts administrator residing in Ogden, Utah. Mr. Hess started his career in the arts in 2008 when he became the Percussion Director at Bonneville High School. Under his direction Bonneville grew from obscurity into an award percussion section. In 2010 Mr. Hess accepted the position of Program Director for Weber State Indoor Percussion, a position he held until 2018 when he helped found Performing Arts Weber, a performing arts non-profit sponsoring Gold Spike Percussion and Gold Spike Winterguard. Since 2010, his ensembles have won two WGI Regional Championships, five Intermountain Percussion Association Championships and a spot in the 2019 WGI World Championships Semi-finals. Mr. Hess is currently the Executive Director of Performing Arts Weber and the Intermountain Percussion Association. He joined the Board of Directors of the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019 and in 2020 was elected to the Board of Directors for Capstone Classical Academy. Mr. Hess has served as a clinician and instructor for numerous high schools and performing arts organizations throughout the intermountain region. He is currently the Percussion Supervisor and Visual Designer for the Weber State Wildcat Band, Program Coordinator for the Davis High School Marching Band and Indoor Percussion Ensemble, and Director of Gold Spike Percussion. He is an active clinician, instructor, consultant, and designer who dedicates his time to expanding educational, performance, and competitive opportunities for young performers in the Intermountain West.
