Director of Arts - Music Mentor
Stephanie Strait is a passionate advocate for arts appreciation and education. She is always looking for creative new ways to increase awareness for the arts in the Ogden community and to meet the needs of the community by creating and improving opportunities in music education that are available to young musicians. As the Arts Director and Music Mentor with Capstone Classical Academy, she works to enrich the education of students by developing and implementing music curriculum that is designed to propel their education in core subjects. For students who choose to pursue music beyond high school, she works to tailor classes and unique opportunities to meet their needs as they advance in this path so they will be well-prepared for future studies. Mrs. Strait plays piccolo for Chamber Orchestra Ogden, teaches a private flute studio out of her home, and has also served her music community in several organizations. She was the conductor for the Weber State String Project's Ogden Youth Symphony for 3 years. In addition to her work with the String Project, she also served as Executive Director for NEXT Ensemble, an Ogden-based nonprofit that is transforming the concert experience for the Ogden community. Additionally, Stephanie has served on the board of the Utah Flute Association. Though she is originally from North Carolina, Mrs. Strait has studied flute at New Mexico State University, and she graduated from Weber State University with a degree in Instrumental Performance on Flute. She has studied primarily with Dr. Lisa Van Winkle, Cindy Henderson, and Susan Campbell. Mrs. Strait is an active soloist and collaborative musician in the Ogden community and enjoys performing in musicals, operas and other productions.
